The VCI as at the end of October confirms a vegetation deficit in a number of counties. However, some of the most affected counties received good rains in the last 10 days, which are expected to significantly improve the situation in the next weeks. In particular, Mandera (except Lafey), Wajir (save for the southern part) and Marsabit have received some good rains that should improve the VCI in the next couple of weeks, while Garissa (especially Lagdera and Balambala), Isiolo, Kajiado and Tana River (northern part) have not received significant rains and therefore the drought situation is still critical.

Ukambani region has not received significant rains, and unless there are good rainfalls in November, the cropping season will be poor again.
